Leah Edwards of Grenada was awarded the 2017 Hugh K. Hart Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operators’ Association. MWPCOA Incoming President Anthony Hall presented Leah with this award on April 20 at the Association’s 47th Annual Conference in Biloxi. Leah is the daughter of Jeffrey and Angelia Edwards; Jeff is a water and wastewater operator for East End Water Association, and he is employed by RBS, Inc., the contractor for the Corp of Engineers at Grenada Lake.
Leah has received numerous academic awards in high school, is active in the FCA, and Show Choir. Upon receiving the scholarship, Leah said, “I feel very appreciative, and I cannot thank the scholarship committee enough. I would like to thank my parents for pushing me to be the best in everything I do, but most importantly I want to thank the Man upstairs.”
Leah will graduate from Kirk Academy in May with a 3.82 GPA. She plans to attend Mississippi State University in the Fall 2017 to pursue a degree in Biological Sciences, and apply for dental school.
