2011 MWPCOA HUGH K. HART MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO

The Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association awarded Chance Lowery of Union their 2011 Hugh K. Hart Memorial Scholarship.  MWPCOA Scholarship Chairman Ken Briggs presented the scholarship at the Association's 41st Annual Meeting in Bay St. Louis on July 22.

The MWPCOA Hugh K. Hart Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a spouse, child, grandchild or a member of the Association. Chance is the son of Paul and Heather Lowery.  Paul is a certified  operator for the MS Band of Choctaw Indians. 

Chance  graduated from Union High School in May with a 3.62 GPA. He plans to attend East Central Community College in Decatur in August to begin working toward an Engineering Degree from the University of MS.  He has chosen the field of Chemical Engineerin...continued in article

SPECIAL RAY A. HEFFNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO

The Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association awarded Adrianna Nichole West of Tupelo their Ray A. Heffner Memorial Scholarship.  MWPCOA Treasurer Doug Barker of Flora presented the scholarship at the Association's 41st Annual Meeting in Bay St. Louis on July 22.

Ray A. Heffner was one of the “Founding Fathers” of the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operators’ Association.  He was the only operator who served as Association President for three separate terms - 1968, 1971 and 1984.  He received the Howard K. HOWARD K. WILLIFORD AWARD PRESENTED TO TERRY BOYETTE

Enterprise resident, Terry Boyette was honored by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association on July 22 by presenting him with the Howard K. Williford Award, the Association's most prestigious honor.

When presented the award, Boyette said, “I am honored to receive this award.  When I first took the short course in 1971 and got certified, Professor Williford was the person in charge.  I knew him personally and I was impressed with his dedication to the Association and the water and wastewater operators.  I thank Ralph and the rest of the committee members and the Board for this honor and their

The Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association awarded Kathrine M. Cole of Tupelo their 2011 Ed May Memorial Scholarship.  MWPCOA Scholarship Chairman Ken Briggs made the presentation at the Association's 41st Annual Meeting in Bay St. Louis July 21.

The MWPCOA Ed May Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a spouse, child, grandchild or a member of the Association.  Kathrine (Katie) Cole is the daughter of Larry and Rhonda Cole.  Larry is a certified operator for the City of Tupelo.

2010 Water Supply Operator Of The Year Perry Goodson

Perry Goodson of Calhoun City has earned the 2010 Jim McDonald Award for Outstanding Waterworks Operator of the Year presented by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association. MWPCOA President Daniel Rayfield presented the award at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Bay St. Louis, MS on July 21.
