HOWARD K. WILLIFORD AWARD PRESENTED TO TERRY BOYETTE

Enterprise resident, Terry Boyette was honored by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association on July 22 by presenting him with the Howard K. Williford Award, the Association's most prestigious honor.

When presented the award, Boyette said, “I am honored to receive this award.  When I first took the short course in 1971 and got certified, Professor Williford was the person in charge.  I knew him personally and I was impressed with his dedication to the Association and the water and wastewater operators.  I thank Ralph and the rest of the committee members and the Board for this honor and their support.”

The Howard K. Williford Award is given each year to a member who displays "outstanding dedication to the Association." Ralph Hayes, committee chair,  presented the award at the Association's 41st Annual Meeting in Bay St.Louis, MS.  The award is in honor of Professor Howard K. Williford who was instrumental in professionalizing the water and wastewater industry.      

Terry holds a Class A water certificate and a Class IV wastewater certificate.  He retired from the City of Meridian in 1994 as water treatment superintendent.  He worked for the City from 1970 until 1994.  After retiring from Meridian, he worked as a circuit rider for MS Rural Water Association.  In 2000 he started his own business, MS Cross Connection and currently is a licensed Backflow Prevention Appliance Technician (BPAT) as well as water and wastewater licensed.
 
Terry served on the MWPCOA Board of Governors from 1983 to 1986 and served as President of the Association in 1987.  He was awarded the 1985 Jim McDonald Water Supply Operator of the Year by the Association.
