2015 CLASS D WATER SUPPLY OPERATOR OF THE YEAR DAVID PAYNE
David Payne of Plantersville has earned the 2015 Jim McDonald Award for Outstanding Class “D” Waterworks Operator of the Year presented by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator’s Association. MWPCOA President Gerald Sweeting presented the award at the Association’s Annual Conference in Vicksburg, MS on July 14.
Payne has been employed by the City Point Water Association for more than ten (10) years. When presented the award, Payne said, “I would like to thank my Board at City Point Water for their support. And I thank my father for letting me help him when I was 12 years old. That’s when I got my start working in the water business. I owe a lot to my Dad who was the first operator for this system.” Payne said “It’s an honored to be nominated for this award. I thank the Operators’ Association.”
The Jim McDonald Award is presented each year to a waterworks operator who exemplifies professionalism and dedication to his work. MWPCOA members submit nominations which are reviewed by Association’s Board of Governors. A final selection committee visits the operator’s facility and conducts an interview from which the final recipient is chosen.
